    The Worcestershire Masonic Golfing Society (WMGS) was formed in November 1962 and held its first annual meeting at the Worcester Golf and Country Club in May 1963. The Society is open to all Worcestershire Masons, of any order who enjoy good golf competition and companionship.

    We hold an Annual Golf Competitions at the AGM meeting.

    2026 Venue was Stourbridge GC, on Tuesday 14 July

    We also have annual Provincial matches against Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Staffordshire, Monmouthshire, Shropshire & Warwickshire.

    Objectives of the Society
    • To promote the competitive spirit of golf among the Masons of Worcestershire Lodges
    • To hold an annual competition for the ‘Fellows Cup’ ‘Weatheroak Bowl’ and ‘Veterans Cup, ’C V Firminger Memorial Cup’ ‘Price Taylor Cup’ (9 holes for the over 80's)
    • To hold annual golf matches against all the surrounding Provincial Golfing Societies.
    • To select and enter the Worcestershire Provincial Team of 4 in the Midlands Masonic Golf Competition. Consists of 10 Provinces competing for the 'Battle Jug'.
    • To hold such other golf meetings the Committee may decide from time to time.
    • To raise funds for Chosen Charities.
    At the Annual meeting, there is competition for the Fellows Bowl, Stableford, max course handicap 28. Plus the Weatheroak Bowl, a pairs competition. Your pair must be from the same Worcestershire Lodge (Any Order)
    The Annual Letter that is sent to all members at the start of the season outlines the 2024 schedule.
    If you would like to enjoy friendly, competitive golf with fellow masons, at some of the finest courses in the Midlands, then please return your application form. The Life subscription to the Society is £20 and this includes the purchase of your WMGS tie.

  • The Battle Jug

    The Midland Masonic Golf Competition (MMGC), for the 'Battle Jug' took place at Glen Gorse Golf Club, LE2 4AF on Tuesday 28th July.

    Hosted by Leicestershire & Rutland Masonic Golfing Association.

    The WMGS are responsible for the instigation of the 10 Province, Midlands Masonic Golf Championship back in 2022. Having won it in 2024, sadly it was lost in 2025.

    Derbyshire, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Leicestershire & Rutland, Northants & Huntingdonshire, Nottinghamshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire were the original 10 Provinces represented.

    Our team put on a brave effort to Capture the Battle Jug but were eased down the field against tough competition. We do thank them all for the input and wish them better luck next year.

    The results for the day were as follows:

    1st – Nottinghamshire with 81 points

    2nd – Gloucestershire with 78 points

    3rd – Herefordshire with 76 points

    4th - Warwickshire with 73 points

    5th - Leicestershire with 72 points

    6th – Worcestershire with 70 points

    7th – Staffordshire with 69 points

    8th – Northants & Hunts with 67 points

    9th – Cambridgeshire with 66 points

  • AGM 2026

    This section covers all eventualities of the Annual General Meeting, commencing with 18 holes of golf at Stourbridge Golf Club.

    A great test of golf for all but some came through better than others.

    Change of Captaincy

    As per usual, the captaincy is a reign of two years and this year David Rushforth handed over to Emerson Holder. Even though Emerson was ill and unable to attend. He will be invested at a later date.

    There were 26 golfers enduring that emense heat out on the course. The evening then continued with the AGM meeting follwed by dinner and culminated with the presentation of prizes to the worthy winners.

    The full listing of winners follows this report. It also allowed the Past Captain David Rushforth, to announce the four-man team for this year’s defence of the Battle Jug. To be played at Glen Gorse Golf Club, Leicestershire, 28 July 2025. We wish Worcestershire all the very best for a great day and thank them as our representatives.

    They are listed at the bottom of the following Results Table.

    The evening concluded with the presentation of a cheque for £1,000, in aid of the Worcestershire Freemasons Charity. Andy Hill, the Chairman of the WMGS had great pleasure in presenting this to the PGM, who received it with many thanks, stating that it would be put to good use.
